Roscommon
Accommodation
Dr
Douglas Hyde (first President of Ireland) was born in County
Roscommon and Hyde Park - the GAA park in the county is
named after him. Roscommon comes from the Irish 'Ros' a
wooded, gentle height and Coman, the name of the county's
famous saint and the first bishop of the see. Clonalis
House, a victorian manor outside of Castlerea, is the
ancestral home of the O'Conors, the last High Kings of
Ireland and Kings of Connaught. Lough Key Forest Park, over
840 acres of lakeside parkland is located five miles east of
the town of Boyle.
