Tipperary
Accommodation
Tipperary
is Ireland's largest inland county and gets its name from
the Irish word 'Tiobraid Arann' - the well of Ára.
Tipperary borders the mountain ranges of the Galtees, the
Knockmealdowns and the Silvermines. The Rock of Cashel is
one of Tipperary's most popular attractions as is Lough
Derg, the biggest lake on the river Shannon. Clonmel,
Tipperary's largest town comes from the Irish Cluain Meala -
the pasture of honey. Other places to visit in
Tipperary include Roscrea and Carrick-on-Suir, Cahir Castle,
and Holy Cross Abbey where you can trace the footsteps of
early Christianity in Ireland.
